Training

Teacher Technologies was founded by our trainer, Selena Woodward.  To learn more about her philosophies on Professional Development pop over to our “What we do” page.  Training comes in many forms, workshops, seminars, coaching, collaboration and discussion. How ever you’d like to work, Selena is available for whole days, half days and even (a minimum of) 2 hours after school.  Why not book her for your next staff meeting and let her help you, and your staff, unlock the potential of the technology you’ve got in your classroom?

Interactive Whiteboard (or Device) Training

  • RM Easiteach Next Gen

  • Promethean Activ Inspire

  • SMART™ Notebook

  • SMART™ Trainer

  • Promethean Curriculum Dev

  • Promethean Voting Tools

As you can see from the vast array of certificates above, Selena is a certified trainer for Promethean, Smart Notebook and Easiteach Next Generation.  She’s also pretty handy with Hitachi’s Starboard software and is more than happy to share her skills with you and your team.  More importantly, however, Selena is a fully trained, highly accomplished and experienced teacher.  She’s spent over 10 years working with Interactive Whiteboards (IWBs) in various secondary schools to teach English and Drama and, as a result, is able to offer a unique perspective on technology. Instead of just focusing on ‘what the buttons do’ she focuses on how you can use the tools you’ve got to really make a difference to your pupils.

She has spent her whole career experimenting with a range of tools and has a proven track record for using technology to improve student outcomes.

Linking the technology with your required content knowledge, and the pedagogical needs of your students, will really give you value for your investment. IWBs were never designed for just showing YouTube videos or going on the internet.  They are incredibly powerful teaching and learning tools.  They are a technological tool which comes with software that will help you, as teaching professionals, to create personalised learning experiences for your students. Amongst other pedagogical techniques, they can be used to boost confidence, scaffold and extend  learning and help you to increase (or slow down) the pace. It gives your students the opportunity to be the expert  in the room and allows you to move away from the 20th century style of teaching; you don’t need to be the “sage on the stage”.  Want to know how?  Contact us and find out!

Put all of your ‘tech’ to work …

Selena is also able to work with you and your team using a number of other technologies.  These include (but are not limited to) iPads, Laptop 1:1 programs, web 2.0 tools, QR codes and Augmented Reality.  Understanding how planning lessons in which pedagogy, content knowledge and technology are used together to enhance teaching and learning is one of Selena’s specialities.  The TPACK framework has formed a part of the training of pre-service teachers across the whole of Australia.  Find out why it’s become an important part of being a teacher for the future. Australian Curriculum and National Professional Standards

Selena has spent the last 12 months working with Flinders University as their ICT Pedagogical Officer. As part of the Teaching Teachers for the Future project, she has worked with AITSL to help trial resources and other documentation to support the roll out of the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPSfT) and their supporting ICT Statements. In addition to this, Selena has been helping the staff at the University to ensure that pre-service teachers are gaining access to, and training in, the Australian Curriculum (ACARA).

Selena is able to come and work with your staff to help them to develop innovative learning experiences. To repurpose the technologies they have available to them, and enable them to make a real difference to the children they teach.  Of course, whilst they’re doing that they can make sure they are able to evidence the three standards which require ICT (4.5, 2.6, 3.4).  In addition, she is also happy to help you and your staff develop unit plans, and programs of study which use ICT across your curriculum. Helping you to efficiently and effectively meet the statutory requirements of one of the Australian Curriculum’s General Capabilities.

Don’t forget that this site already contains a vast amount of curated resources for both Primary and Secondary teachers to get you started. For example, the very popular SMART Kiddies website.  There’s also all of Selena’s blog posts which guide teachers through some of the latest technological and pedagogical advances she’s been experimenting with. Why not explore now?
