CegSA's Annual Conference is getting closer!

As you might know from reading my bio, I’m a committee member of the Computer’s in Education Group of South Australia (CegSA).  Over the past few months we’ve been busy putting together a joint conference with SLASA (School Librarian Association of South Australia).  We wanted to give our members the opportunity to explore the ways in which learning with text is evolving.  E books are becoming more and more popular.  St Peters, here in Adelaide,  have bought a whole year group a set of iPads so that they can access their textbooks electronically.  At our recent AGM, Kerrie Smith started this conversation off with a presentation on  “e-books [and the] the pitfalls of growing digital wings”.

The conference, in May this year, will delve even further into the idea of Literacies and Learning.  Going beyond just E-books and looking into the idea of literacies and what that means to a 21st century learner/teacher.  The program is very impressive with some excellent keynotes including Judy O’connell who’ll be talking about “Learning without Frontiers”.  She’ll be examining the impact of augmented reality, 3d and much more.  There’s also Tom March who’ll be discussing  how “the world surrounding schools has moved from “one-size-fits-all” mentality to one where digital customisation enables “allsized-to-fit-one” and also Malcolm ‘Jack’ Spargo who’ll be discussing how teachers can become “an ambassador for technology and learning”.

Of course, As well as all these excellent keynotes there are a plethora of workshops and invited speakers on offer to share knowledge about 1:1 laptop programs, e-safety, the Google Teachers Academy, online learning, iPad Textbooks and much, much more.

Why not grab a ticket and join in the fun?
