A British teacher from the West Midlands, Selena has spent a great deal of time researching and implementing ICT in the curriculum. Her specialist subject being English, her work in the U.K. has been mostly linked to the ways in which new technologies could be integrated into the U.K's English National Curriculum in order to enhance teaching and learning
A highly experienced practitioner, Selena is able to offer advice and training on software, hardware, curriculum implementation and how to manage your newly created digital resource banks. She is friendly, approachable and always willing to help in an area that she sees as being of the up most importance for schools with a clear vision for the future.
Selena has just returned to the UK after spending a year working with teachers in Adelaide, South Australia. Having trained teachers from all sectors to use Interactive Whiteboards, given a seminar at Flinders University, helped to design a course in “Using the Internet to Teach English” for the Department of Education and Skills and taken part in a Learn Scope project to develop online e-learning environments she is excited to continue to work with teachers in the UK to share her experiences from the other side of the globe.
Since returning to her full time teaching career at Shenley Court School she has continued to offer training to colleagues both at Shenley Court and through a SWAN training day. Her influence is already being seen in the English department as students have begun to use podcasting, blogs, Wikis and Moodle to enhance their learning experience as well as enjoying a range of digital interactive learning experiences. She is continuing to develop her practice in the use of IWBs in the classroom with great sucess.
For a better understanding of her training style Selena invites you to take a look at a part recording of a seminar she delivered at Flinders University Adelaide.
