Augmented Reality

Teacher Technologies Default Post Thumbnail

I’ve been hearing on the grape vine that SMART are planning to introduce Augmented Reality into their range of products. They’re planning to do this using their document camera……

Sites and software used in this example:

www.arsights.com
Google Earth
Camera used: Logitech C600

Here’s SMART’s protype in action

In honor of thenerdyteacher (A very knowledgable EDtech blogger) this all reminds me of one of my favourite UK TV shows we had when were kids… You worked in a team. One of the members was blinded by a very fetching helmet, the other three guided them through a virtual castle on quests. Reality was augmented using Kromekey in those days!

Here’s a list of places where you can find and create your own AR experiences. Anyone fancy re-making Knightmare?

This is such a great post. I was aware of AR, but never understood why it was such a big deal. You did a wonderful job explaining its uses. Great post!

The Future Schools team at SSAT has been playing with this – no London Globe yet, but I’m sure they’d love to hear from you. See what they’ve been up to here https://www.ssatrust.org.uk/achievement/future/Pages/AugmentedReality.aspx

Company called 2simple software uses AR in 2Create a Superstory which is digital story telling program. Absolutely brilliant what primary school kids can do with this software-see 2Simple TV on You Tube
